| Post subject: feedback on the plot |
Has anyone got any comments to make on how the Gaby plot is developing?
It would be nice to know what you all think about where things are possibly headed.

I suspect one of the main themes in Book 7 will be the continuation of what Drew would probably regard as the "wrong" puberty. We'll probably see more of the German doctor that examined Drew a few chapters ago - although we probably won't see the surgery to 'set' Drew's final physical appearance.
Hopefully we'll also see more of Drew/Gaby's progress within the Apollinaris junior development squad (and some more members!) - and some more of the Warsop gang. Possibly including Em.
And I've already heard a rumour we might see the Atlanta superbike again |

What do you want us to say? Keep it fairly close to the way things have been developing so far, or follow the plotlines of some of the more, erm, "imaginative" plotlines?
I doubt we'll see some of those aspects enter the main plot - such as half the cast getting blown up by a terrorist bomb, or Drew and Jen being aliens from another planet, or Rhod/Em turning out to be a witch with the ability to summon others by various incantations (it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally daft concepts in some of the fanfics I haven't got around to reading yet!). Equally unlikely is Drew deciding to have a head shave, double masectomy, ovo-hysterectomy and megadoses of testosterone to finally 'kill off' Gaby. |

It appears that the whole town, and surrounding area, the entire school, the racing team, and everyone he meets, knows or has decided that Drew is a girl, fait accompli. How else is she the Wine Queen. The doctors have about decided she is a girl and treat her as such. The tale is moving along quite nicely, to your orders. And since I have not read ahead of the current release, I have no advanced knowledge, which may be why a few have held their words from the rest of us. I like the twists and turns you toss in, and I learned a LONG time ago, not to read too much in, as it just winds along right around me if I do. |

As Maddy herself once said, she felt she couldn't continue with the "boy being tricked into dressing up as a girl" ad infinitum. Given that Drew has been consistently mistaken for a girl throughout all six books so far, I think it was a logical plot development for him to actually start having the "wrong kind" of puberty.
However, just because he lacks testosterone, it doesn't mean he's actually a girl. Bear in mind that before female puberty kicked in, he was still physically male. He still has a penis and scrotal sac, and certainly still thinks like a boy. Even now, when his body is asserting femininity all over, he rarely thinks like a girl (apart from semi-autonomous aspects such as putting on the clothes / makeup).
The main arc of the Book 7 will probably be Drew gradually trying to reconcile "But I'm a boy!" with his body developing otherwise. His uniqueness has already been shared with Jules and Bernie, so I can imagine Connie and Mad being involved as well, and supporting him through this difficult time in their own unique ways...
Albeit in a two steps forward, one step back manner - as undoubedly he'll be dragged into several more "be as pretty as possible" events. As usual, he will absolutely hate the build up to them, hate the dress choice, hate the leers from boys etc., but his competitive nature will take over and he'll be a real success.
There will be many tears and tantrums en-route, but also plenty of humour, embarrassing situations, and cycling.
Yes, cycling. Something that was a big element of the earlier stories, but has been heading for the back burner since the family's arrival in Germany. There have been details of a few races, but not much in the way of training or outings with other riders. Hopefully that will change in future episodes - and since Drew's already got Maddy interested in cycling as a sport, it would be interesting if he can persuade any of his German friends to start racing. After all, the waitressing is only one day a week...
I might think of more things to say later, but as it's now 1:15am and my alarm's set for 7, it might be a good idea to drag myself away from here and into bed! |

i agree with mttfh, i like the race and cycling pices very much
your story is one of the only ones which has such an ongoing topic nice embedded in a TS-tale.
more cycling and race events please
even the pics in your story are a nice addition to it and i guess you have a few pics to choose to add them in a new chapter
also i miss dads archeological excurses to the lovely countyside we have here in germany and i guess some castles or other stuff is interesting for the other readers who have not been able to visit germany,
its not only chimneys and factorys here as some people might guess.
*hugs*

??? No one has said Drew is a girl. But in Ch. 149 Drew was declared not to be intersexed, by a British physician who was said to be specialist in the field.

You are incorrect. At this point it is clear that Drew was never "a boy mistaken for a girl" by anyone. All those events were cases of people observing physical symptoms of an as yet undiagnosed medical condition in Drew, and interpreting those symptoms.
A boy being mistaken for a girl is funny. A person with a serious medical anamoly is not.

There is no law that requires the Drew story to go on ad infinitum. Or, the plot could change to where Drew enjoys "being" a girl. That would have preserved the charm of the first two-and-a-half books, at least.
Instead, the story of a medical drama destroys what was the comedy of errors in those first 110 chapters. Now, instead of being light and humorous, the early chapters are sort of creepy, with an undercurrent of foreboding.
It's analogous to the way the new J. J. Abrams movie torpedoes any joy in the 1966-1969 Star Trek television series.
Of course, there's no law that says that the Drew story must be a funny comedy, either. My disappointment is a consequence of once believing that it was. |

hi- i just hope it is possible for Drew's story to have a happy future- not a foreboding one. Just as "obits" cause me to cry when i first read it- the beginning of the new Star Trek movie cause me to cry- anything sad causes me to cry. When i see death in a story about a boy i could love as a brother- like Drew or the death of a father in Star Trek- IT MAKES ME SAD- cause it reminds me of reality, like the death of my grandmother last year. I was so glad "obits" was a writing assignment for Jules. your friend toni who prays the best for everyone and loves all of you- hugs |

hi- i also hope that Drew will draw a fanbase that a movie can be done based on what Maddy's has written- Drew is an interesting boy and a caring one- and he has an insight many boys do not have- and he is good as a boy and a girl. DREW IS A BOY- FIRST and he can be a girl too- he is smart as a boy or girl- and i would love him as brother- hugs - or a sister. |
