Post subject: DNS/Site Outtage/Potential Upgrades

Hi everyone. Just a little note apologizing for the DNS Downtime that we've been facing for the last week or so.

The Site/Server has been up and running fine, but the generous benefactor that originally purchased, and has been paying to renew our domain name every year (Thank you Robi) has been working on moving her servers.

As a result the DNS servers were down and not operating properly. Robi has gone ahead, and fixed the domain so that it now points at my DNS servers and we are back to having full control that will hopefully keep downtime like this to a minimum (even if I decide to move/upgrade the server in the future)...

I am still working on plans to upgrade/port this site over to a DIFFERENT CMS software and have laid down test sites / development scripts for porting over to Joomla and DRUPAL. The other option of course is just to upgrade to the latest version of the software we use now, but that will be just as much work, and we will loose just as much stuff, as if we upgraded to something new.

What are your thoughts? I have attached a POLL to this thread, and I hop you all make use of it. You will notice thier is NOT an option for "Don't upgrade, it's fine as it is"... This is because we NEED to keep the Spammers, ScriptKiddies, and Wannabe Hackers out of our wonderful site.

Heya Piper. You forgot one important category above. I voted for Drupal, since I see it the most, I guess. But you could add one for The Easiest for you to install and operate.

To put it quite frankly... There is no EASY option. Most are easy to install for initial installs and even migrations from version a to version b, but because of the migration from product George version C, to Henry version D or Henrietta version X, it's going to be quite a free for all of script mashing and hair pulling.

Normally the simplest option would be the Upgrade from MDpro to MDPro latest, but because they decided to head in a different direction, things are a HUGE mess.

N-E-Ways, off my soap box, and back to my basement where all the programmers are kept...
